Jewellery care

Everyday wear

Apply fragrance, lotion, hair products, and sunscreen before putting on jewellery. This helps protect metal finishes and keeps stones, pearls, and polished surfaces clearer over time.

Remove rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces before showering, swimming, exercising, cleaning, or sleeping. Repeated contact with moisture, impact, and chemical products can dull shine and weaken delicate settings.

Pearls, stones, and plated finishes

Pearl styles and high-shine statement pieces should be kept away from direct sprays, oils, and abrasive fabrics. Wipe them gently after wear with a soft dry cloth to remove surface residue.

Gold-toned and polished pieces benefit from gentler handling: avoid hard knocks, stacking against sharp edges, and storing multiple items loose together, as this can create surface marks and wear through plated layers faster.

Storage

Store each piece separately in a pouch, lined box, or soft compartment to reduce tangling and scratching. Chains should be clasped before storage to help preserve their shape.

Keep jewellery in a cool, dry place away from humidity and direct sunlight. Bathrooms are generally not ideal for long-term storage because fluctuating moisture can affect finish and longevity.

Cleaning

For regular care, use a clean microfibre or jewellery cloth and wipe gently after wear. Avoid rough polishing compounds unless they are specifically suitable for the material of the piece.

If a deeper clean is needed, use lukewarm water with a very mild soap only when appropriate for the piece, then dry fully with a soft cloth. Pearl and delicate statement styles should be cleaned more conservatively and never soaked.

When to seek support

If a clasp feels loose, a stone setting catches, or a piece has taken impact, stop wearing it until it can be assessed. Early care helps avoid avoidable damage and loss.
